Custom Flagstone Patio Installation on French Island

Our team at Brothers Lawn Care recently completed a 2,000+ square foot patio installation on French Island near La Crosse, Wisconsin, transforming an outdated paver patio into a beautiful natural stone outdoor living space.

The project began with the removal of the existing paverstone patio. During demolition we discovered a poured concrete foundation underneath, which had to be broken up and removed before preparing the base for the new patio.

The new patio was built using Oklahoma Blue Flagstone, with each piece carefully cut and placed to create an organic, natural layout. The patio was framed with an RCP Colonial Onyx border and properly sloped away from the home to ensure proper drainage.

To connect two patio areas, we installed custom Mesabi Black granite steps, creating a seamless transition between elevations.

After the stonework was completed, the joints were secured with locking sand, and we finished the project with turf repair and sod installation around the patio.

We sourced the stone through a distributor in Rochester, Minnesota, ensuring high-quality materials for this custom patio project.

The finished result is a durable and beautiful flagstone patio built to handle Wisconsin’s seasons while creating a great space for relaxing and entertaining.
